Homework
Reading is a vital skills and promoting a joy of reading is extremely important.
Reading with your child at home promotes a positive attitude towards reading. Statistically, children between the ages of 4-8, who read 3 times a week or more at home with family members, achieve 3 times more than their peers who don't, throughout their education (not just in primary but also at secondary)
This means that one of the most important things you can do with your child at home is regular weekly reading - this can be through our school reading books or reading for pleasure books. Each week your child will bring home their weekly guided reading book and reading for pleasure book which they will have chosen themselves (this may be a book that you read to them but ask them questions at the same time about what is in the book)
Other homework activities can include any of the following games which are laptop and tablet friendly:
Hit the button - number bonds to 10 and addition games unto 10 and then 20.
